Mary Jones Obituary

Mary Jane Jones, 84 of Indianapolis, peacefully passed away in her home surrounded by her loving family on May 31, 2020.  Mary was born on August 13, 1935 in Indianapolis to Jack and Viola (Vandoski) Markins.  She worked as a waitress and then worked in the cafeteria at Allison, but she worked longest as a store clerk for Get N Go, where all the local kids would help her stock shelves.  She would pay them in candy and sodas and they lovingly called her mom and kept in contact with her.  Mary loved to bake and cook from scratch, and she was a member of Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene.  She also enjoyed making flower arrangements with her daughter, a trade she learned from her own mother’s flower shop.  Most of all, Mary was a loving mother and homemaker.

In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her ex-husband and love of her life, Ralph X. Jones; her brother, Richard Markins; her sisters, Rose Viles, Betty Childers, and Wanda Reynolds; and her two grandsons, Justin Jones-Gary and Christopher Morton.

Mary is survived by her sons, Terry Jones and Ralph E. Jones; her daughters, Diana Worman (husband Larry), Sheryl Brown (husband Glenn), Tammy Collingwood (husband Bill), and Kim Gary (husband Harry T.); her brothers, William “Bill” Markins (wife Jane) of Virginia and Dan Markins of Greenwood, Indiana; her sister, Patricia Ives (husband Bill) of Indianapolis; as well as her 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
